As schools scrambled to make their classrooms virtual, the disruption put a significant strain on working-from-home parents and posed challenges for educators and students.
FREMONT, CA: 6 out of 10 working parents reported that remote learning was difficult for their families, and 56 percent of US K-12 parents expect full-time, in-person attendance this fall.
According to Jabra's research, some of the most difficult challenges have been social isolation from classmates and teachers and issues with attention span and engagement. The average face time loss has been 3.5 hours. Gallup data also highlights the daily challenge for parents of balancing work and facilitating learning.
Educational institutions can modify their models of knowledge distribution and focus on developing students in other ways by using the right kind of technology, hardware, and software to record and distribute these lessons. Using HD video and audio for this is critical to achieving the highest level of engagement possible, whether pre-recorded or live.
According to our research, platforms like Zoom, the most commonly used, continue to add educational features. The learning experience can be improved by combining it with compatible hardware. When combined with the appropriate teacher training, schools can maximize their resources, virtual participation, and learning outcomes.
Educators primarily use laptop audio and built-in cameras for lectures. Software platforms can integrate with chosen LMS and solve many current challenges by utilizing certified and compatible hardware. For example, video fatigue can be reduced by using non-distorted humanized video streams and Microsoft Teams' Together Mode features. At the same time, wide-angle cameras can provide teachers with more engaging teaching spaces, whiteboard use, and natural teaching environments. Wireless headsets or speakerphones can also help teachers be heard clearly in a busy classroom setting.
While digital divides must still be bridged and challenges in virtual education persist, there are ways to improve the learning experience in virtual classrooms today.
Teachers and schools can humanize the learning experience and drive engagement, collaboration, learning, and accessibility within distance and virtual learning by upgrading to the right technologies and marrying them with your chosen LMS and collaboration platforms. Now is the time to put these technologies to the test, deploy them, and empower students and educators to provide the best virtual learning experience possible.
