The goal of K-12 education should not only be to close the digital skills gap, but also to ensure that children get the abilities they need to prosper in the conceptual era.
Fremont, CA: Education is always changing. Every kid learns differently, and new knowledge is accessible to increase learning on a daily basis, making the need for ongoing change a top priority for educators. Right now, K-12 education is fast evolving in schools worldwide, and this is a good thing.
Need for change in K-12 education
The change will not occur until it is actively sought. Although the tools and activities in a classroom may be effective, the question remains if they challenge students to move beyond the surface of learning.
The only constant is change, but change is difficult. Changing something that has been profoundly believed or practiced for years does not happen immediately or without repercussions. Teachers, administrators, teachers, and students must all agree that change is necessary and that it will begin with them.
Educators have a unique opportunity to reflect on the fact that they have had to make a change for themselves in recent years and how that shift has impacted them. After COVID-19, neither education nor teachers will be the same. Students must also join the trend of instructors who are looking for new ways to provide more chances for future generations of students.
Implementing changes in K-12 education
Leadership is the most effective strategy to affect change in K-12 education. The key to having a clear viewpoint, understanding, and model for driving change and managing the support and needs of those around is leadership. With the correct strategies, change can be managed.
As leaders, reflection should be the most important indicator of which way the school should change. Leaders should consider what specific adjustments have worked in the last few months, what needs to stick, what changes they need to make from the unpredictable changes, and how they can be the support, ear, heart, and virtual embrace for people who need it when everyone is going through change.
It is critical to change K-12 schooling in order to avoid becoming stuck in a monotonous learning routine. Leaders in education must challenge the way kids learn and provide opportunities for them to expand exponentially.
